Buying decants
What's a decant?
A small bottle (typically 2–10 mL) poured from a collector's full bottle. It lets you wear and live with a fragrance for weeks before deciding on the full bottle.
Who am I buying from?
Fellow collectors. Every decant comes from a member who owns the full bottle and has set their own sizes and prices. You can see their profile, rating, and collection before you message.
How do I pay and get my decant?
You arrange payment and shipping directly with the seller in the message thread — we don't sit in the middle. That keeps fees out and puts you in direct contact with the source.
Do I need an account to search?
No — search and browsing are open to everyone. You'll need to sign up (free) when you want to message a collector about a decant.
What if the fragrance I want isn't listed?
Our catalog covers 12,400+ fragrances. If no one's listed a decant yet, follow the catalog page — we'll let you know as soon as a collector puts one up for sale.
Selling decants
How do I start selling?
Import your Fragrantica profile, set decant sizes and prices on the bottles you want to split, and your listings are live. Buyers find you through search and the marketplace.
What does it cost me?
Listing is free. We don't charge transaction fees — payments happen directly between you and the buyer.
Do I need supplies to decant?
Yes — small glass atomizers (2–10 mL), labels, and padded mailers. Our Field Notes has a guide on packaging and shipping a decant safely.
Shipping & safety
How do you handle disputes?
Buyers and sellers first try to resolve directly in the message thread. If that fails, write to us and we'll help mediate. Member ratings are built from these interactions, so repeat bad actors get flagged quickly.
Are fragrances shipped internationally?
That's up to each seller. Fragrance liquids have carrier restrictions, so many collectors ship within their region only. Check the seller's profile or ask them before confirming.
